No no, this isn't Spam but I hope you appreciated my "Spam Compatible" subject.
I called Verizon this morning and said "Hey, I'd like to cancel my service?"
"Why sir?" responded the oh-so-friendly representative.
"Because Comcast is faster and cheaper," I replied. Duh.
"Well if I could double your speed and knock off $15 a month, permanently, would you stay with Verizon?"
"Uhhhh," I pondered quickly calculating that the 2x speed increase would equal my speed from Comcast. I'm sharp as a tack! "Sure. Make it happen #1."
"Excuse me?"
"Yes, I would like that thank you."
If you use Verizon DSL, call them up and tell them they're too slow and expensive and you want to cancel. You will get the same deal. Note: If you're too far away from one of their central offices (greater than 12,000 feet I believe) you will get the discount but not speed increase.
