How is this girl ever going to grow up not hating us? Or her sister, her father...
From another Joshua:
I love your website. It's the best I've seen in awhile. Keep up the good work!
P.S. Put some porn on your site it will get more attention.
Well that's to the point.
This morning, the phone cord that runs the phone and DSL in my office got kicked and ripped out the guts of the phone jack from the wall. Since I didn't have an extra wall jack handy, I had to do some emergency MacGyver type of surgery to get the internal pins unbent. Then, since the place where you plug the phone cord in wouldn't stay seated (the snaps broke off) I needed to use a Vise-Grip clamp to hold it on. However, I couldn't find mine so I took some regular pliers and taped it in a held position. The final result is what you see above. Clearly I'm back online.
Finally. I'm not watching it at the moment though, as Tivo is taking care of it for me. Has it been gone for 5 weeks or something?
I'm going to sleep. The ridiculousness of a movie like Chicago beginning a near sweep is taking out all the fun out of it. I don't know who is really watching these movies but to tell me that Catherine Zeta-Jones bested both Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore in anything, let alone a supporting actress role, is just plain idiocy. I can feel the biggest oh my god what were they thinking moment coming... they're going to give Nia Vardalos an award for the insipid My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Am I the only person who thought that movie was painful at best? Sorry to be a complete bitch-fest here but these awards, save the Oscar to Chris Cooper for Adaptation - now that's a movie and a role to be not only awarded, but proud of. Congrats Chris. Definitely the most interesting part of the evening... Michael Moore tearing our president a new one about the war and being both cheered and jeered off the stage. Congrats on your Oscar nonetheless.
Ok, I'm still watching as I'm typing. Julia Roberts looks awesome - and Chicago lost an award to Road to Perdition - are things possibly looking up? Nope, I spoke to soon... Robin Williams is back to doing his schtick. Sigh. Please tell me that when I wake up tomorrow, Lord of the Rings: Two Towers wins best picture and that Chicago hasn't won anymore. Please. I can dream can't I? That's what I'll be doing. Good night.
Nice! Kids can rejoice over this news: A new study suggests video games may be a good cure for some of the things that ail you. See the article at ncbuy.com - I'm sure it's a reputable news outlet. Thanks Jordan for the tip!
From Haaretz.com. And things just keep getting worse. I like this quote: "Saddam is not an angel, but we should support him."
Steve and I filmed (taped?) the Adam Ezra Group's record (CD) release party recently at the Paradise. A quick video of their sound check was produced as well as a number of photographs. Keep an eye on these guys. They're going to be big.
The following are email messages intercepted for me by Spamcop.
It's amazing how much I get but it's fun being able to narc on these guys thru their reporting service. Thank you Spamcop!

Yahoo / Reuters is reporting that Replaytv maker Sonicblue is filing for Bankruptcy and is selling all its assets.
Apple has released a new updater for the iPod that's long overdue. Pod Software 1.2.6 provides improved battery management which solves a problem that may appear to shorten your iPod’s battery life. Everyone I know has had this problem. Also, note: When you download the updater, the installer only installers the updater software to your Mac (or Windows box) in the Applications / Utilities folder. You then need to run the updater itself. Basically it's three steps.
1. Download updater installer.
2. Install updater onto your Mac.
3. Run the updater from your Mac to update the iPod.
It's confusing because it seems like step 2 did it already.
Futurefarmers.com has a list of sites who have replaced their homepage with a No War banner.
Huh? How did this happen? Publisher WROX (and parent of Friends of Ed) has gone into liquidation. Those two publishers have got to be two of the best out there. Anyone know when this happened? I'm stunned. How could such top rated publishers completely screw up a successful and seemingly thriving business model like this?
Not really, it's a joke. CrazyAppleRumors has a "story" about Bush wanting a recount to Al Gore's appointment to the Apple board. Funny stuff.
Yes, we're at war. Welcome to jungle, er, the desert. That being said, CNN is making me nutzo with their "newscasters" saying how great it is working for CNN, how they have "never seen a company take such good care of their people", how they feel so cared for and loved, blah blah blah. Is it salary review time for the CNN staff cause this constant self-congratulatory drivel is getting really painful to continue to watch. That being said, I will not watch Fox News. If I wanted coverage that biased, I'd listen to Rush.
Brilliant. Check out The Origami Boulder Company and get your own crumpled piece of paper on a bamboo display stand! The FAQ is especially humorous as is the overall tone of the writing.
I had some weird stomach thing and was in bed for the last 24 hours (except when I wasn't in bed running to the bathroom). Good times. I was on the BRAT diet but a Google search says that maybe it's not such a good idea long term.
Damn! I didn't win! Well I didn't even know about them. Anyway, the best of the best according to fairvue.com: the 2003 bloggies - third annual weblog awards. Even if you don't agree with all the choices, I love the layout.
Steve and I went to the Camera Company's Show in Dedham, MA today. We took the Power of Lighting course offered. Really interesting class with a fantastic teacher. I just wish his videos were available on DVD. Thanks Bill!
I guess his name is Perry Hoberman. His site has a bunch of great items, my favorites in the infringement section, but it's worth browsing around.
If you haven't seen tonight's Six Fix Under season premiere and plan to watch it, don't read any further! Still here? Good. Actually, great. That's what tonight's season opener was, meeting or beating all my high expectations. The "Is Nate Dead or Not" first 15 minutes was so wonderfully done and the show as a whole completely drew us back in. I love the concept of Nate flat-lining and how that may come into play over the coming season. Also, not a word from Brenda which keeps you wondering how they're going to bring her back. My prediction is that by the end of the season, she's actually going to be a likable character... or dead... or both. Claire going back to her reckless ways really bummed me out. She was just starting to get her life together... couldn't they keep her stable for at least a couple of episodes? Finally, it's true... don't feed peanut butter to your kid before they turn at least one, but our doctor told us three. That being said, two grandmothers have already violated that rule with both peanut butter and almond butter and so far no problems. Don't grandmother's know anything? Just kidding! One final thought, the HBO page synopsis of the episode wrote: "Ruth goes overboard in her obsession with her granddaughter Maya." I disagree on that writers take. The reason she got snubbed was cause the Nate's now wife is freaking cause her boss, played wonderfully by Catherine o'Hara, is a total pyschopath. Good times.
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - The suspected mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks was being interrogated by U.S. and Pakistani agents on Sunday after what Washington called the biggest catch so far in the war on terror. Damn, I thought Evan Marriott was the biggest catch. I can't keep today's news straight.
On the lighter side, HBO's Six Feet Under begins it's third season tonight. I must say I'm giddy. Yes giddy. There has been nothing to watch on TV lately, with the exception of NBC's The West Wing... and my Tivo burped on me last week and didn't record it. Instead I got some dancers on public television. Clearly a right wing conspiracy. I hope my excitement for Six Feet Under doesn't cause me to be disappointed. I was pretty jazzed for The Sopranos and felt like this past season was a huge letdown. I'll write up some thoughts after tonight's show.
