The TiVo Trojan Horse

TiVo could end up being to DVRs what Apple Computer Inc. is to PCs.
TiVo has signed deals with Pioneer Corp. and Toshiba Corp. to put free basic versions of its software into combination devices. To be available this fall, such products would come equipped with both digital video disc players or recorders and hard-disk drive recorders. TiVo hopes it can get consumers who use its basic service to upgrade to a premium service for a monthly fee.

You've Got TiVo.

America Online is launching another feature today.
This one's aimed at users of TiVo, the digital video recorder for television. AOL members with TiVo boxes will be able to program them via AOL by typing in the keyword "TV Listings," clicking on the show they want to record and clicking "record to my TiVo DVR." The free AOL service requires a Series 2 TiVo recording device.
Oh Boy, gotta go get AOL for that! Not.
